Step by step

How to automate trading on Angel One

Set it up once with these steps, in this order. Field names follow the Angel One connection form on Broker & Exchanges.

  1. Add Angel One on Tradetron

    On Broker & Exchanges, click Add Broker, pick Angel One and save with placeholder details for now. This unlocks Enable virtual server.

  2. Enable a virtual server

    On the broker's edit page, click Enable virtual server and pick a plan (from Rs 100 a month + GST). Tradetron emails you the server's address; Angel One accepts API orders only from an address you register with it.

  3. Open SmartAPI with New Login

    Go to smartapi.angelbroking.com, sign in with New Login (not Login), then click + ADD APP.

  4. Create the app

    Name it Tradetron, enter the Redirect and Postback URLs from Tradetron's Angel One setup page (tradetron.tech/html-view/Configure-AngelOne), paste the virtual server's address into the primary IP field and submit. Note the API key.

  5. Enter your details in Tradetron

    On Broker & Exchanges, enter your Angel One Client ID as User ID, your MPIN as Password, the API key, and the current TOTP from your authenticator app. Leave token and refresh_token blank.

  6. Generate the token

    Save, then click Generate Token.

  7. Deploy a strategy

    Build a strategy in the no-code builder or pick one from the marketplace, choose Angel One as the broker and deploy. Live Offline runs it on live prices and shows each signal without placing an order; Live Auto places the orders at Angel One.

Every trading day. Before you trade each day, enter a fresh TOTP and generate the token on Broker & Exchanges. Each TOTP is valid for about 30 seconds.

Why the virtual server. Under SEBI's framework for retail algo trading, every Indian broker accepts API orders only from an address registered with it (all brokers from 1 April 2026). Your strategies run on Tradetron's servers, so the address Angel One needs is your virtual server's, never your home or office address.

Do I need to know how to code?

Is automated trading allowed on Angel One?

Yes. Tradetron connects through Angel One's official API. You stay in full control of your account and funds.

Why do I need to log in to my broker every day?

Under the exchange rules for retail algo trading, every broker API session is logged out each day before the next trading day begins. So each broker asks you to log in again, or generate a new token, before you trade. It is not a Tradetron limit.

Can I try it before paying?

How do I set up algo trading with Angel One?

What goes in the User ID and Password fields for Angel One?

Your Angel One Client ID goes in User ID and your MPIN goes in Password, not your trading password. Leave token and refresh_token blank; they fill in when you click Generate Token.

How do I fix 'Access denied: Unregistered IP address' on Angel One?

It means the address registered on your SmartAPI app is missing or different. Check it matches the virtual server address in Tradetron's email. Then log out of the Angel One app and website, open Tradetron in an incognito window, clear the token, TOTP and refresh_token fields, save with a fresh TOTP twice, generate the token and redeploy.

Can I backtest a strategy before running it on Angel One?
