A covered call screener for NSE F&O stocks that builds the strategy for you

A covered call here is a long stock future with a monthly call sold above the current price. The screener lists liquid NSE F&O stocks with the strikes that traded, using exchange lot sizes.

Tick the stocks, set the strike and lots, and Create writes a draft strategy into your account: one set per stock. Nothing is deployed or charged until you choose.

What a row in the screener shows

Each stock shows its price, the call strike above it, the call's price and the lots, with quantity worked out from the exchange lot size. Names and prices here are made up.

How it works

From the screener to a strategy

  1. [ 01 ]

    Start from the suggested basket

Your basket opens with a set of names already ticked. Change the strike to any listed strike that traded, and the lots from one to three.

  2. [ 02 ]

    Add or remove names

The full F&O list can be sorted by any column. Tick a row to add it, and open its price chart from the row.

  3. [ 03 ]

Add protection if you want it

Convert to a collar with a put below each stock's price, or protect the whole basket with index puts.

  4. [ 04 ]

    Create the strategy

Name it and click Create strategy. You get a draft with one set per stock that you can backtest, deploy or edit in the builder.

How the strategy behaves

Each set enters once after the market opens: it buys the stock future and sells the call at the strike you chose. The set exits when the call's price has fallen to a fifth of its entry price. An index put set, if you add one, is held to expiry.

Where the prices come from

The screener is refreshed about every 20 minutes on trading days. A call's price is the live mid where Tradetron streams the contract, otherwise the last session's close, and only strikes that traded are listed.

Know the risk

A covered call caps the gain above the strike and keeps the stock future's downside. A collar limits that downside at the cost of the put. Run the draft through a backtest and Live Offline before you trade it.

Questions

Common questions

Do I need to hold the shares?
No. The screener builds each covered call from a stock future and a sold call, so it needs F&O margin rather than shares in your demat account.
How are lot sizes handled?
Quantity is the stock's exchange lot size times the lots you choose, one to three per stock, up to 25 stocks in a basket.
Does Create place any orders?
No. It writes a draft strategy into your account. You decide whether to backtest, edit or deploy it.
Can I protect the downside?
Yes. Convert to a collar with a put five to fifteen percent below each stock's price, or add index puts for the whole basket.
How fresh is the data?
It is refreshed about every 20 minutes during market hours on trading days, and the screen shows the time of the prices you are looking at.
