pcr and oi should be work with mcx

Ask TT AI

Right now, PCR and the OI keywords don't work for MCX. They only cover index options: NIFTY, BANKNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY, FINNIFTY and SENSEX. Commodities (MCX), stocks and crypto return nothing.

The knowledge base doesn't say whether MCX support is planned. To ask for it or check on it, please use the chat on tradetron.tech.

How the OI keywords work today

  1. Keywords that work: PCR, Total OI, Max OI Strike and Max OI Instrument. The plain Open Interest keyword doesn't work, so don't use it.
  2. Underlying: type just the index name, for example 'NIFTY', not 'NIFTY 50'. If you enter something unsupported, like an MCX symbol, the strategy still saves with no error, but the keyword returns nothing.
  3. Expiry: type exactly 'current month' or 'current week'. Only NIFTY and SENSEX have 'current week'. BANKNIFTY, MIDCPNIFTY and FINNIFTY are monthly only.
  4. Live prices only: these keywords run in Live Offline or Live Auto, not in backtests.
  5. How PCR is calculated: it uses the 25 strikes on each side of ATM, not the whole option chain.

Example (a supported index):
PCR('NIFTY', 'current week') >= 1.25

The same condition with an MCX underlying would return nothing.

You can find all the details for each keyword on the Keyword docs page: Keyword Documentation — Tradetron. It has a search bar at the top.
