Repair Once vs Repair Continuous: what is the difference?

Create a strategy 2 views

  • Repair Once fires one time. After it fires, it is not checked again until the set exits or a Universal Exit runs.
  • Repair Continuous is checked all the time and fires every time its condition is true.

Use Repair Once for things like a stop loss on each leg (one Repair Once block per leg). Repair Continuous is meant for averaging or grid-style entries.

Avoid infinite loops with Repair Continuous

If a Repair Continuous condition simply stays true, it fires again and again. After too many loops the strategy is marked Blocked.

Write the condition so it resets after each fire. Pair it with a Net Qty check, or compare against LastRepairedPrice:

  • Bad: LTP(XXX) < YYY. Once price is below YYY this is true every second, so a new position is taken every second.
  • Good: LTP(XXX) < LastRepairedPrice - 15. The first time it fires, LastRepairedPrice updates to the new price. It will not fire again until price falls another 15 points.
