Best practices to avoid Error Execution

Errors & fixes 2 views

Most Error Executions come from two things: not enough margin, or a missing token. Fix those first.

Keep enough funds with your broker

A margin shortfall is one of the main reasons an order goes into Error Execution.

  • For a marketplace strategy, ask the creator which instruments and positions it trades and how much margin it needs.
  • Confirm the margin for those positions with your broker, and keep enough funds in the account.

Generate your token before market open

If your broker needs a token every day, generate it on the Broker & Exchanges page after 8:30 AM and before 9:00 AM.
See How to generate token.

Do not exit positions from your broker terminal

Trades you square off directly at your broker are not recorded in Tradetron. If Tradetron still shows the positions as open, it can keep firing orders as per your logic. Always exit from Tradetron.

  • To exit now: on the Deployed page, click the three dots (⋮) next to the strategy and choose Exit. Tradetron sends orders to close every open position it shows.
  • Already squared off at the broker (your own or a free-template strategy): convert the deployment to Live Offline and click Exit. No orders reach the broker, and the status changes to Exited. You can then update the exit prices of the legs.
  • Already squared off at the broker (paid marketplace strategy): a paid-template deployment cannot switch to Live Offline. Click the instrument on the Deployed page and edit the quantity so open quantity is 0, then exit. Only do this when there is truly no open position at the broker.

If a deployment is stuck in Exit Pending after that, contact support with your Strategy ID (SID) on chat at tradetron.tech or at [email protected].

If an order still errors

Check your broker’s order book and the Notification Log for the broker’s exact reply, then use Manage on the deployment (Completed Manually, Try Again or Cancel). Use Try Again only after fixing the cause, and only if the order did not actually go through.
