Tradetron Stockbag: Automate Your Stock Portfolio Without Code

Tradetron Stockbag lets you build a portfolio of stocks with a target weight for each, deploy it through your broker, and manage it as one unit, without writing code. You choose the stocks and the weights; Stockbag works out the minimum investment, places the orders, and keeps the proportions when you add or withdraw money.

What Stockbag is for

Most investors don't fail for lack of stock ideas. They fail at the follow-through: allocations drift, money added later goes into whatever feels good that week, and rebalancing never happens. Stockbag turns your plan into something that runs by rules:

Manual portfolio Stockbag
Weights drift and nobody notices Each stock has a target weight
New money goes wherever it feels right New money is split by the same proportions
Ten separate orders to build or exit The portfolio is deployed and managed as one
The plan lives in your head Name, tag and description written down

Stockbag is for holding a portfolio. If you want a rule that trades each stock on its own signal, such as a breakout, use a List in the strategy builder instead.

How to create a Stockbag

Tradetron's Create Stockbag form with name, tags, description, stock search, weighting scheme (Equi-Weighted), capital for one unit, cash buffer target and rebalance settingCreating a Stockbag: pick stocks, a weighting scheme and a rebalance rule

  1. Go to Create → Stockbag on your Tradetron dashboard. You can start from an existing Stockbag or create a new one.
  2. Add a name, a tag and a description. The tag describes the theme (growth, dividend, a sector); the description explains the idea. Write it so that you, a year from now, know why each stock is in.
  3. Add your stocks. Select as many as your plan needs. Each starts with an equal weight.
  4. Set the weights. Raise or lower any stock's weight. The remaining stocks rebalance automatically to keep the total at 100%.
  5. Lock weights you want fixed. A locked stock keeps its weight while you adjust the others.
  6. Check the minimum investment, which Stockbag calculates as you build.
  7. Save it.

Why the minimum investment matters

Shares come in whole units, so a portfolio needs enough money to buy at least the right proportions of each stock. A stock priced at ₹6,000 with a 10% weight needs ₹60,000 of total portfolio for one share to fit its weight exactly. Stockbag does this arithmetic for you and shows the minimum, which also tells you when a high-priced stock makes the portfolio too large for your capital.

Deploy your Stockbag

  1. Open the saved Stockbag and click Deploy.
  2. Test it first with Live Offline, where it runs and records every trade, but nothing is sent to the exchange.
  3. Deploy it live with your connected broker when you're ready. The stocks are bought in your own demat account.

If you haven't connected a broker, see how to connect your broker to Tradetron.

Adding and withdrawing funds

After deployment you can add money any time, and Stockbag splits it across the stocks in the same proportions. You can also withdraw, and the portfolio's structure stays intact.

Stacked bars: a ₹1,00,000 Stockbag split 30/25/20/15/10 becomes ₹45,000, ₹37,500, ₹30,000, ₹22,500 and ₹15,000 after ₹50,000 is addedNew money follows the same weights (hypothetical portfolio)

Sharing a Stockbag

You can share a Stockbag with others, or offer it as a subscription, free or paid. When you update the Stockbag, the changes reach every active portfolio that follows it. That makes Stockbag useful for advisors and creators who manage one model portfolio for many people.

Good practice for a Stockbag

  • Write the selection rule first: why each stock is in, and what would make you remove it.
  • Avoid hidden concentration. Five stocks from one sector behave like one big position.
  • Rebalance on a rhythm, such as quarterly or yearly, not after every headline. Each rebalance has brokerage, STT and possibly capital-gains tax.
  • Keep high-priced stocks in mind. One expensive stock can push the minimum investment beyond your capital.

Frequently asked questions

What is Tradetron Stockbag?

Stockbag is a Tradetron feature for building and running a portfolio of stocks. You choose the stocks and their weights, and Stockbag calculates the minimum investment, places the orders through your broker, and keeps the proportions when you add or withdraw funds.

Can I automate my stock portfolio without coding?

Yes. You build a Stockbag by adding stocks and setting weights in the interface. No code is needed to create, deploy or top it up.

How do weights work in a Stockbag?

Every stock starts at an equal weight. You can raise or lower any stock's weight, and the others adjust to keep the total at 100%. Locking a stock keeps its weight fixed while you change the rest.

Can I add money to a Stockbag later?

Yes. Added funds are split across the stocks by the same weights, and withdrawals keep the portfolio's structure as well.

What is the difference between a Stockbag and a List?

A Stockbag is a portfolio you hold, with set weights. A List is a group of instruments used inside a trading strategy, where the same entry and exit rule is checked for each instrument separately.

Is Stockbag suitable for beginners?

Yes, if you keep it simple: a handful of stocks from different sectors, sensible weights, and a fixed rebalancing rhythm. Test it Live Offline before deploying it live.
